Day by day plan
- Day 1
Arrive at the coast
Fly from JKIA to Moi International Airport in about 1 hour 15 minutes, or take the 08:00 SGR in first class and arrive around 14:00. Our driver meets you with your names on a board. At the hotel, mention that you are on honeymoon. Settle in, open the balcony doors and do nothing until dinner. You have earned it.

Sleep in, then sail
No alarms today. Have a late breakfast and spend the day by the pool or the sea. In the evening our driver takes you to the creek for your cruise. On the upper levels it is the Tamarind dhow dinner cruise, which leaves at 18:30 and returns around 22:30 with a seafood dinner and a dawa cocktail. On the classic level it is a sunset dhow along the Old Town waterfront.

A free day for the two of you
This day is yours. Ideas that couples like: a couples massage at the spa, a glass bottom boat over the coral in Mombasa Marine Park or a late lunch at a beach restaurant in Nyali. If you are restless, the Fort Jesus and Old Town walk takes two to three hours. Tell us the day before and we arrange it.

Beach day and a private dinner
Spend the morning on the sand. In the afternoon, rest in the room. For your last night, ask your hotel for a private table on the beach or in the garden. Most beach hotels can set one up for a fee. We can request it ahead and confirm the price, so it is ready when you walk down.

Home as a married couple
Have a slow breakfast and one more swim. Check out is usually at 10:00, but you can keep using the pool. The driver takes you to the airport about two hours before your flight, or to Mombasa Terminus for the 15:00 express, which reaches Nairobi around 20:18.

SGR first class or a flight for a honeymoon?
Fly if you are tired after the wedding. It takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. You can leave Nairobi late morning and still have the afternoon at the beach. Return fares usually run from KES 12,000 to 25,000 per person.

When is the best time for Mombasa honeymoon packages?
September to mid December and January to March are warm, dry and good for the sea. April to June is rainy but quiet and cheaper. July and August are busy with overseas visitors.

Can we combine our honeymoon with a safari?
Yes. Many couples do. Two nights in the bush before the beach gives you two very different memories. Tsavo is the closest park to Mombasa, about two to three hours by road.

How do we book and pay for Mombasa honeymoon packages?
Send us your wedding date, preferred travel dates and the level you like. We send a written quote with the hotel name and full price. You can share it with family or your wedding committee if they are helping.
A deposit by Mpesa, bank or card holds the room. You can pay the rest in parts before travel. Book at least six weeks ahead, or three months ahead for December and August weddings.

How many nights should a Mombasa honeymoon be?
Four nights is the sweet spot for most couples. It gives you two travel days and two full free days. If you add a short safari, plan six or seven nights in total. Longer stays work well at all inclusive hotels.
Do we need a marriage certificate to book a honeymoon room?
No. Hotels only need an ID or passport for each guest. Some hotels ask for proof of the wedding before giving honeymoon extras, so carry a photo of your certificate on your phone. Resident rates need proof of Kenyan residence.
Is Mombasa or Diani better for a honeymoon?
Mombasa is closer to the airport and station and has more evening options like the dhow dinner cruise. Diani has a wider, quieter beach and boutique hotels. Both make great honeymoons. Many couples choose by how much they want to go out.
