Tsavo East and Tsavo West are two separate parks with separate tickets, even though the Mombasa highway is the only thing between them. We run Tsavo safaris from Nairobi, Mombasa and Diani every week, so these are the fees we pay at the gate. Prices are checked against KWS at booking.

What are the Tsavo entrance fees in 2026?
An adult East African citizen pays KES 1,000 per park per day and a child pays KES 500. Kenya residents pay KES 1,350 per adult and KES 675 per child. Non residents pay USD 80 per adult and USD 40 per child. Citizens of other African countries pay USD 40 and USD 20.
Before October 2025 the Tsavo citizen rate was lower. Old blogs that show figures below KES 1,000 are out of date. Your ticket covers one entry for up to 24 hours in one park.
Do Tsavo East and Tsavo West need separate tickets?
Yes. They are separate parks with separate gates. If you game drive in Tsavo East in the morning and Tsavo West the next day, you pay two day fees.
Two adult citizens on a 3 day safari with one day in each park pay KES 4,000 in park fees. Two non residents pay USD 320. If Amboseli is on the same trip, a combo ticket is cheaper.
Which combo tickets cut Tsavo entrance fees?
KWS sells two combo tickets that include Tsavo. Buy them in one payment before the first park and use them on one continuous trip.
The Tsavo West and Amboseli combo costs KES 2,200 per adult citizen, KES 2,900 per resident and USD 150 per non resident. The three park combo with Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli costs KES 3,000, KES 4,000 and USD 215. A non resident saves USD 35 on the three park ticket. Our Amboseli entrance fee guide shows the Amboseli side.
There is no combo for Tsavo East and Tsavo West alone.

How to pay Tsavo entrance fees on eCitizen
You pay through KWSPay on eCitizen with Mpesa or a card. KWS gates are cashless. Network at Tsavo gates can drop, so pay before you leave Voi, Mtito Andei or the coast.
On our tours, park fees are part of the price and we buy the tickets for you.
- Open kwspay.ecitizen.go.ke and pick Tsavo East or Tsavo West, or a package
- Choose your date and visitor group
- Add adults, children and your vehicle by seat count
- Pay with Mpesa or card
- Screenshot the QR code ticket
What extra fees apply in Tsavo?
Your vehicle pays a daily fee by seat count. A car with under 6 seats pays KES 600 and a van with 6 to 12 seats pays KES 1,500.
Walking safaris in Tsavo East and Tsavo West cost KES 3,000 per person per day for citizens and residents and USD 50 for others. Groups are capped at 10. Entry and ranger security are extra.
A public campsite costs KES 200 per adult citizen, KES 300 per resident and USD 20 per non resident. Lodges inside the park charge their own rates. You still pay the daily park fee.
Tsavo East vs Tsavo West: which one should you pick?
Pick Tsavo East for big open plains and herds of red dusted elephants. It is flat, easy to drive and close to the coast, so it suits a day trip from Mombasa or Diani. Lugard Falls and Aruba Dam are the main stops.
Pick Tsavo West for hills, rhino and scenery. Mzima Springs lets you watch hippos underwater and the Shetani lava flow is a short walk from the road. It is closer to Amboseli, which makes the combo ticket easy to use.
Gates and opening hours
Both parks open from 6am to 6pm. For Tsavo East, Voi Gate and Buchuma Gate are closest to the Mombasa road. Sala Gate serves visitors from Malindi and Watamu. For Tsavo West, Mtito Andei Gate is the main entrance off the Mombasa highway.
From Mombasa, Buchuma Gate is about two and a half hours by road. From Nairobi, Mtito Andei is about four hours.
How to plan your Tsavo safari
Staying at the coast? Our Tsavo day trip from Mombasa or the 2 day Tsavo East safari from Mombasa fit around a beach holiday.
To see both parks, take the 3 day Tsavo East and Tsavo West safari. Kenyan families can use our Tsavo packages for residents with resident lodge rates.
Note that the Taita Hills sanctuary and Salt Lick Lodge sit on a private reserve next to Tsavo West. It charges its own conservancy fee, not a KWS fee.
