Tsavo East National Park Safari
Tsavo East National Park is Kenya’s largest national park, covering over 13,700 square kilometres of semi-arid wilderness. Famous for its red-dusted elephants (who coat themselves in the park’s distinctive red laterite soil), vast open plains, and the dramatic Yatta Plateau — the world’s longest lava flow — Tsavo East offers a raw, authentic African safari experience with fewer crowds than the Masai Mara.
Wildlife Highlights
- Red elephants — large herds dusted in Tsavo’s signature red soil
- Lions — the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo” legacy; healthy lion populations today
- Hirola antelope — world’s rarest antelope (sanctuary within the park)
- Diverse wildlife — leopard, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, and over 500 bird species
- Mudanda Rock — a natural dam attracting wildlife, especially during dry season
- Lugard Falls — dramatic rapids on the Galana River
