December to March is hot, sunny and mostly dry with calm seas. September to November is also good, with fewer crowds and lower rates. April and May bring the long rains and some boutique hotels close for a few weeks.

How do you get to Diani from Nairobi?
Fly to Ukunda airstrip, about 10 to 15 minutes from most Diani hotels. Or fly or take the SGR to Mombasa and drive south for about 1.5 to 2 hours. The SGR costs KES 1,500 in economy or KES 4,500 in first class one way.
The SGR and road option is cheaper. Flying to Ukunda saves time and is worth it for short trips. We arrange either one in our packages.
If you fly, pack soft bags. Some smaller planes to Ukunda have tighter luggage limits than big jets. Ask us the allowance for your airline before you pack.
