Lake Naivasha Country Club takes 15 to 400 guests across its gardens and halls. One hall seats 200 and two combined seat 400. It is one of the oldest lakeside properties, with wide lawns that run down towards the water.
For very large weddings, Longonot Gardens on the Maai Mahiu road is listed for up to 1,500 guests. Enashipai Resort and Spa has big lake view gardens plus a hall for about 500 if the weather turns.
Which venues suit an intimate wedding?
Great Rift Valley Lodge sits high above the lake with sweeping views. It suits a small ceremony followed by dinner and a round of golf the next day. Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort has lawns where waterbuck and giraffes often graze, which makes for natural wildlife photos.
Elsamere, the former home of Joy Adamson of Born Free fame, has a quiet garden under acacia trees. It is better known for afternoon tea than weddings, so we check what they allow before you set your heart on it.
How much do wedding venues in Naivasha cost?
Lake Naivasha Country Club publishes one of the clearest price lists. Lawn hire is listed at KES 200,000. Buffet menus cost KES 3,000 (Silver), KES 3,500 (Gold) and KES 4,500 (Platinum) per person. The brochure asks for a 75 percent deposit to confirm and the rest 15 days before the wedding.
Most other venues quote per wedding after a site visit. As a guide, a day wedding for about 150 guests with venue, buffet, a soft drink and coach transport from Nairobi works out at KES 7,000 to 9,500 per guest. Decor, cake, photography, sound and attire are on top.

How do guests get to wedding venues in Naivasha?

Plan the timing with care. Coaches leave Nairobi by 8:00 am for a midday ceremony. The return run should leave before 7:00 pm so guests are not on the road too late. Guests who stay overnight can join a boat ride the next morning.
What are the legal steps for a garden wedding in Kenya?
For a Christian or civil marriage by notice, you apply online on eCitizen and pay a KES 600 notice fee. The notice runs for at least 21 days. The marriage must take place within 90 days of the notice date.
After the notice period you attend an interview with original documents. Then you pay a clearance fee: KES 800 for a wedding inside a licensed place of worship or KES 7,200 for a wedding outside one, such as a lakeside garden. Your officiant needs a valid licence and the marriage register serial number.

When is the best season for a Naivasha wedding?
The driest months are January to March and June to October. Days are sunny and evenings cool. April, May and November bring more rain, so always book a tent or indoor backup.
