How do I get to the Masai Mara from Nairobi?

You can reach the Masai Mara by road (5-6 hours drive from Nairobi) or by scheduled/charter flights (approximately 45 minutes) to airstrips like Keekorok, Musiara, or Ol Kiombo. Road transfers are included in most safari packages.

How much does a Masai Mara safari cost?

Our 3 day Mara safari by road starts at USD 1,080 per person for two people sharing at comfort level. In a group of six it is USD 850 each. Premium and luxury camps cost more. July to December adds USD 150 per person.

Should I drive or fly to the Masai Mara?

Driving takes 5 to 6 hours from Nairobi and lets you stop at the Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha. Flying from Wilson takes about 45 minutes and gives you more time on game drives. You can also drive in and fly out.

When is the best time to visit the Masai Mara?

The Mara is good all year. The river crossings run from about July to October. January and February are quieter with strong resident wildlife. April and May are green and lower priced.

Can I play golf on the way to the Masai Mara?

Yes. Great Rift Valley Lodge has an 18 hole course above Lake Naivasha, on the road to the Mara. We can add a round and a night there to a road safari.
