Forest edge golf, built for champions
Muthaiga Golf Club sits on the edge of Karura Forest in north Nairobi, with water in play and monkeys in the trees. Peter Matkovich redesigned the course and it reopened in 2004. Set up for the professionals it plays to about 7,200 yards, par 71.
The Kenya Open was first held at Muthaiga Golf Club in 1967. Muthaiga hosted it again in 2017, 2018 and every year from 2022 to 2025. The World Golf Awards named it Kenya’s Best Golf Course in 2015, 2016, 2021, 2023 and 2025.
In September 2026 some holes were briefly closed during a land dispute with the Kenya Forest Service, and access was restored on 15 September. We check the course status before every booking.
