Kenya coast golf: where to play
Vipingo Ridge near Kilifi is an 18 hole, par 72 course by David Jones that opened in 2009. It hosted the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and giraffe and zebra live on the estate.
Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa dates from the 1950s. It is a par 71 at sea level, lined with flame trees, and the easiest golf in Mombasa to fit around a beach day.
Diamonds Leisure Golf Club near Diani, the former Leisure Lodge course, hosts the Diani Beach Masters each October, which makes Diani a good third stop for Kenya coast golf.

Planning Kenya coast golf, day by day
A sample three night trip, what it costs to put together and how we run it.
Day one: arrive and settle
Fly into Moi International Airport or take the SGR train from Nairobi. Your driver meets you and takes you to a beach hotel on the north coast. Kenya coast golf starts slowly. Check in, swim and rest before your first round.
Day two: Vipingo Ridge
An early pickup gets you to Vipingo Ridge for a morning tee time. The 2026 visitor rate is USD 75 for 18 holes and a buggy costs KES 5,200. You are back at the hotel for a late lunch by the sea.
Day three: Nyali
Nyali is closer to the hotels, so the morning starts a little later. Visitors pay KES 5,000 for 18 holes and a caddie is KES 1,000. The afternoon is free for the beach, Fort Jesus or a dhow trip in the evening.
Day four: fly home or carry on
Most guests fly home after breakfast. Others add Tsavo East for a night or two of game drives, which is about three hours from the coast by road. Kenya coast golf pairs well with a short safari.
What goes into the price
A Kenya coast golf quote covers green fees, buggy or caddie, airport or SGR transfers, the car to each course and your hotel nights on half board. You can add flights from Nairobi or the SGR ticket. Every line is listed, so you can remove what you do not need.
Best months for Kenya coast golf
The driest months on the coast are usually January to March and July to September. Courses stay open in the rains, but a short shower can pause play. If you travel between April and June, keep one morning spare.
Travelling as a couple or a group
Couples often play one round together and keep the second morning for the beach. Groups of four or more can share a van, which brings the transport cost per person down. Tell us the group size and the Kenya coast golf quote reflects it.

Most guests stay on the north coast, in Nyali, Bamburi, Shanzu or Kilifi, because both courses are on that side of Mombasa. We match the hotel to your budget, from a simple beach hotel to a quiet boutique resort, and the price changes with it.
Clubs, balls and luggage
You can bring your own clubs or hire a set at the club. If you fly, check the airline rules for golf bags before you book. Pack extra balls, a towel and a cap. Coast humidity makes gloves wear out faster, so bring a spare.
Paying and changing plans
Kenyan residents can pay in KES by M-Pesa or bank transfer, and guests from abroad can pay by card. If your dates move, tell us early and we ask the clubs and the hotel to change the booking.
Golf and the SGR
The Madaraka Express is a comfortable way to reach the coast from Nairobi. It arrives at Mombasa Terminus in Miritini, where our driver meets you. Golf bags travel as luggage, and we tell you the current rules when we book your Kenya coast golf trip.
Company golf at the coast
Kenya coast golf is popular for company retreats and year end trips. A team can play Vipingo Ridge one day and Nyali the next, then finish with a dinner by the sea. We handle tee times, coaches, prizes and rooms.
End of year golf days
December is the busiest month for company golf days at the Kenya coast golf courses. Book early, ideally by October, to get a good tee time for your team. We can add prizes, a photographer, branded caps and a dinner, and we send one invoice for the whole day.

Kenya coast golf is best early. Tee off before nine and you finish before the midday heat. The sea breeze helps later, but the sun is strong all year.
Buggies and caddies
Vipingo Ridge uses buggies, at KES 5,200 for 18 holes on its 2026 rate card. Nyali uses caddies, at KES 1,000 for 18 holes.
Getting there
Fly into Moi International Airport in Mombasa or take the SGR train from Nairobi. Nyali is in Mombasa itself and Vipingo Ridge is less than an hour north, so both work from one beach hotel.
What to wear
Light golf clothes, a hat and plenty of sunscreen. Clubs still expect collared shirts and no denim, even on Kenya coast golf courses.
Rainy months
The coast usually gets rain from April to June and again from October to December. Showers tend to be short, but leave a spare morning if your Kenya coast golf trip falls in those months.
Non golfers
Partners have plenty to do while you play: the beach, Fort Jesus, Haller Park or a dhow trip. Add them as non golfers in the calculator and the price updates.
