- Day 1
Nairobi to the Masai Mara
You leave Nairobi at about 6:30 am and drop into the Rift Valley. After Narok the road gets rough, so your guide takes it slowly. You reach camp in time for a late lunch, then head out on your first game drive at about 4 pm. Lions often stir at this hour and the light is soft. Dinner is by the fire.

Full day in the Masai Mara
You leave at first light for the best hours of the day, when cats are still on the move. Your guide works the plains near Talek and the Mara River banks, where hippos and crocodiles wait. You take a packed lunch in the bush or rest at camp. The afternoon drive ends at sunset. A balloon ride at dawn is an optional extra.

Mara to Nairobi
After a final early game drive and breakfast you check out and drive to Nairobi. The trip takes 5 to 6 hours with a lunch stop at Narok or Mai Mahiu. You reach the city by late afternoon and sleep at a Nairobi hotel near the airport or in Westlands. You can also fly out of the Mara to save the road time.

Fly to Diani Beach
You take a morning flight from Nairobi to Ukunda, the airstrip beside Diani. The flight takes about an hour and ten minutes. Beach day or Wasini Island

Last morning and flight home

Flight or Road to the Coast
The road from Nairobi to Mombasa is long and a Diani transfer adds the Likoni ferry. In total it can take 9 to 10 hours. The flight takes about an hour.
