Day by day plan
- Day 1
Arusha to Lake Manyara and Karatu
You leave Arusha at about 8.30 am and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The forest, the soda lake and the baboon troops make a gentle start. After a picnic lunch you drive on to the Karatu highlands. You sleep in a lodge or tented camp with a view over coffee farms.

Karatu to the Serengeti
Today you climb to the Ngorongoro rim and then cross the high plains to the Serengeti. A short stop at Olduvai Gorge adds some human history. You reach the Seronera area in the late afternoon and head straight into a game drive. You sleep in a camp inside the park.

A full day in the Serengeti
You leave at first light for lions, cheetahs and leopards. Your guide follows the Seronera River and the kopjes, then picks the best spot for a bush breakfast or a long picnic lunch. In the afternoon you watch the plains turn gold. Dinner is under the stars.
- Day 4
Serengeti to the Ngorongoro rim
After a final sunrise game drive you drive south for about 4 hours. The road climbs to the crater highlands, where the air is cool and the views are huge. You check in to a lodge on the rim and rest. Many couples watch the sunset from the lodge terrace.

Ngorongoro Crater and flight to Zanzibar
You descend at about 6.30 am and spend the morning on the crater floor with black rhino, lion and flamingos. You drive to Arusha, which takes about 3.5 hours and catch an afternoon flight of about 1.5 hours to Zanzibar. A driver meets you and takes you to the beach hotel.

Zanzibar beach day
Today you do nothing at all. Swim, sleep, snorkel or book a couples massage. If you want an outing, take a sunset dhow cruise or a spice farm tour. Dinner is on the sand, with a table set for two. The beach hotel can arrange it for a small fee.
- Day 7
Stone Town or more beach
You can spend the day on the sand or visit Stone Town, the old Swahili trading town. The alleys, doors and rooftop cafes are worth two hours. Return for a long lunch and a swim. Your last evening is free for a quiet dinner by the water.
- Day 8
Departure
You have breakfast, pack and take the airport transfer for your flight home or to Nairobi. If your flight is late in the day, the hotel can hold your bags and let you use the pool. We can arrange a late checkout if the hotel has space.
