Day by day plan

  1. Day 1

    Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

You meet your group at about 7 am for pickup in Nairobi. The drive to Lake Nakuru takes about 3 hours with a viewpoint stop above the Rift Valley. After lunch you enter the park and look for white rhinos, black rhinos, buffalo and Rothschild giraffes. The lake shore often holds pelicans and flamingos. You sleep near the park gate and eat supper with your group.

  2. Day 2

Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara

You take an early game drive at Nakuru, then return for breakfast. After checkout you drive about 5 hours to the Mara through Narok, with a lunch stop. The last stretch is rough and slow. You reach camp in the afternoon for tea and a first game drive at about 4 pm. Back at camp you share supper and plan tomorrow with your guide.

  3. Day 3

Full day in the Masai Mara

This is your main Mara day on the 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari. You leave at first light with your group and spend the day on the plains. Your guide tracks lions, cheetahs, elephants and hippos and you stop for a picnic or return to camp for lunch. In Jul to Oct you may find the migration herds near the river. You return at dusk for dinner and the campfire.

  4. Day 4

Last drive and return to Nairobi

You wake early for a final game drive and return for breakfast. After checkout you head to Nairobi with a lunch stop at Narok. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours. You reach Nairobi in the late afternoon and the van drops you at central drop off points. Ask us about airport drops before you book flights.

How a 4 Day Masai Mara Group Joining Safari Works

A 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari is already planned when you book. We set a date, collect guests and fill seats in a shared van. Each guest pays the same per person price no matter who else is on board.

A 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari needs fewer decisions from you. We choose the camps, the route and the guide. You turn up with a bag, a camera and a sense of humour. If you want more control over timing, a private plan such as our 4 day Masai Mara safari costs more but gives you your own schedule.

How Much Is a 4 Day Masai Mara Group Joining Safari?

Our guide price starts at USD 520 per person in a shared van with budget camp nights from Jan to Jun. From Jul to Dec the same trip costs about USD 680, because the Mara ticket doubles from USD 100 to USD 200.

Mid range lodges raise the price to about USD 730 from Jan to Jun and USD 890 from Jul to Dec. The lodge upgrade in a smaller shared Land Cruiser runs about USD 940 to USD 1,100.

The price covers the van, driver guide, three nights on full board and both park fees. Compare it with our 3 day Maasai Mara group joining safari if you want a shorter and cheaper option.

Who Shares Your Van

A shared van seats up to seven guests and each guest gets a window. On a 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari most groups are made up of couples, solo travellers and small groups of friends from different countries.

We keep the van size small so no seat is far from a window. You will make friends quickly because you spend four days together. Group chemistry is part of the fun, but it is also a risk. If you want guaranteed privacy, a private safari is the safer choice.

4 day Masai Mara group joining safari: what you will see

Lake Nakuru on Your 4 Day Masai Mara Group Joining Safari

Lake Nakuru is small and easy to cover in half a day. It holds both white and black rhinos, which makes it one of the best places in Kenya to see them. Buffalo, waterbuck, baboons and leopards also live here.

The flamingos come and go with the water level. Pelicans and many other water birds stay. KWS charges non residents about USD 90 per day for Nakuru and we include that in your price. The Kenya national park entry fees guide shows current rates.

Camps and Lodges on Your 4 Day Masai Mara Group Joining Safari

The three tiers share the same route. The difference is where you sleep and how much space you have. Budget camps have simple tents or small rooms with hot water. Mid range lodges offer larger rooms with private bathrooms. The lodge upgrade adds comfort and a smaller shared vehicle.

We tell you which camp you get before you pay. Camp names change with availability, but the standard stays the same. If a camp is full we offer a camp of the same standard and tell you straight away. Read lodge versus tented camp versus camping if you want to know what each style feels like.

Group Joining Versus Private

A 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari costs less because vehicle, guide and fuel are shared across seven seats. You give up control of the schedule. Starting times, photo stops and lunch spots are set by the group.

A private trip gives you a flexible plan. Our Kenya private safaris page explains how prices drop as your party grows. Our Kenya group joining safaris page lists other fixed departure routes.

Best Time for a Group Trip

Jan to Mar is hot and dry with excellent big cat viewing. Jul to Oct brings the migration, so group seats fill early in those months. Nov and Dec are green with newborn animals. Apr and May are wet and cheaper.

See the best time to visit the Masai Mara guide for a month by month view.

A Typical Day on a Shared Safari

Group days follow a steady rhythm. You wake before sunrise, take tea or coffee and board the van at about 6:30 am. Your guide leads the morning game drive and the group votes on any big choices, such as whether to wait at a sighting.

You return to camp for breakfast or eat a picnic on the plains. Midday is a quiet break for rest and photo sorting. The afternoon drive ends at about 6 pm and dinner is served at camp.

A little patience helps. Some guests love long sightings and others get restless. Your guide balances the two and a good group makes this easy.

A dawn hot air balloon flight over the Mara costs about USD 450 to 550 per person and includes a bush breakfast. Book it when you reserve your seat, since balloon places sell out in peak months.

A Maasai village visit is another easy add on for about USD 20 to 30 per person, paid at the village. Our Maasai village day tour shows how we run visits with respect. Ask for a post trip Nairobi extra if you land late or leave early.

Packing for a Shared Safari

For a 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari bring neutral clothes, a warm layer for early mornings, a hat and sunscreen. Pack a small soft bag since vehicle space is shared. Binoculars help a lot because you do not choose where the van stops.

Our Kenya safari packing checklist covers the rest. Malaria is present in the Mara, so see your doctor before travel.

How to book your 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari

Booking your 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari with us takes about five minutes of your time. The rest is our job. Here is exactly what happens, step by step, so there are no surprises along the way.

  1. Send your dates. Message us on WhatsApp with your travel dates, how many people are coming and the ages of any children. Tell us if you have a budget in mind. We plan with it, not around it.
  2. Get a written quote. We reply with a clear price per person, what it includes and what it does not. No hidden park fees and no vague extras. If a cheaper camp or a shorter route makes more sense, we say so.
  3. Tweak it until it fits. Change a camp, add a night or swap a park. Ask as many questions as you like. Changes cost nothing until you confirm.
  4. Confirm with a deposit. A deposit holds your vehicle, guide and rooms. You get a written confirmation with every detail and the date the balance is due.
  5. Travel day. Your driver guide meets you at your hotel or the airport with a name board. You have their number and ours for the whole trip.

What every trip with us includes

Every 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari plan we put together comes with the basics done properly. You ride in a safari vehicle with a pop up roof, with a professional driver guide who knows the parks. Water is in the cooler box and park fees are sorted in advance so you do not stand in a queue at the gate.

We also stay reachable. If something changes on the road, a flat tyre, a closed route or a sudden storm, we sort it and keep you posted on WhatsApp.

Paying safely

We share payment details in writing only and every payment gets a receipt. The payment options and the balance date sit on your written quote, so nothing is left to memory or a phone call.

Why book with a Nairobi team

We live here. We drive these roads all year, we know which camps are honest about their photos and we know when a park is too busy to enjoy. That local knowledge is what turns a good 4 day Masai Mara group joining safari into a great one. Our Google rating sits at 5.0 from 46 reviews and we plan to keep it that way.

Ready when you are. Send us a message and we will put a plan together for you shortly.
